My Most Embarrassing Moment

I know you are expecting something spectacular here- something you can laugh at for days, but in reality I don't have a "Most Embarrassing Moment". I mean I've definitely had moments that were embarrassing- but nothing that truly sticks out in my mind.

I lied- there is one moment of my life that was pretty embarrassing. When I was a junior in college I studied abroad in London. Towards the end of the semester we had a party for our group- it was rather small, I believe someone from our university may have been in town and the students and families we were living with were all invited to the soiree. As usual we were taking full advantage of the alcohol provided. The night winded down and some friends and I headed home towards the tube. Now, in London, unlike NYC, the underground closes at midnight. Sometimes the last train is even earlier. We made our way to Kings Cross (yes the harry potter one!!) and noticed a train was coming right that second, one of the last ones of the night- we ran as fast as we could to jump on and as I got onto the train I completely tripped, in my drinking state I had failed to actually life my legs to get into the train but just ran into the train- shins right into the siding, fall flat on my face. In that moment I laughed, but as soon as the doors closed I asked the friend with me if she wouldn't mind getting off at the next stop and waiting for the next train. We did, I laughed, had some bruises the next day and all was well.

In the scheme of things it wasn't a big deal, and I'm sure much worse has actually happened to me. On the whole though, nothing crazy or awful. I've never been stood up on a date, never tripped in front of a crush, no accidentally skirts tucked into underwear or toilet paper stuck to my foot.

And there you have it- my most embarrassing moment (at this point in my life).

To Confess or Not to Confess?

I'm going to go with yes, because it's Wednesday and that is what is happening around these parts...

I confess: I re-joined weight watchers yesterday because I've been feeling all over the place lately and really need to get myself in check. I'm actually starting with their Simple Start this time and so far so good (said one day in..) Anyways it's worked in the past but if anyone else out there is doing it would love some recipe/meal ideas!

I confess: I'm super annoyed because it turns out my leg actually is broken (stress fracture)- least favorite sentence I heard this weekr. Annoyed because a) thought it was broken four weeks ago and was told it wasn't b) because I was told it wasn't broken I was then told I could run on it which c) led to it hurting again and finding out it really is a stress fracture. boo- super not happy and now I will be behind weeks in my marathon training. I'm upset, frustrated and my leg hurts.

I confess: Saw this ad on facebook on Monday for a ManServant and why yes, I would like this for my birthday. Thank you in advance- and warning not sexually explicit but prob still #NSFW.

 Have a great day!

Confession Session

I confess: that in middle school 'NSync made appearances in my dreams nightly.. fo sho. Not always as themselves but sometimes just a poster, or perhaps as garden gnomes on my wonderland path (truth). I may or may not still be obsessed (may).

I confess: I'm not sure I'm where I want to be anymore. I love NYC but not as solid in beliefs that it's my place to be. Definitely will be a northern person but considering my options..

I confess: This job is forcing me to learn all sorts of life skills I thought I would never encounter. Besides learning how to decrypt and burn DVDs, I now know how to re-caulk a bathtub, start a charcoal grill, fix the toilet, dishwasher, and find a thousand missing toy pieces. #whatwhat #addthattoyourresume

I confess: The book, Orange is the New Black, kind of makes prison sound super fun. Not that I ever want to end up in prison, but it if I ended up where Piper did I could totally make it work.

I confess: I finally sucked it up and had someone clean my house for me and it was AMAZING! and totally worth it. It was soo nice to come home to a clean place, a made bed, and knowing that I didn't have to participate in any of it.ahhh the joys of life.

That's all I'm willing to confess- check out some others!

I May Have a Child..

Somewhere in the United States, or the world, there is possibly a child that is mine- made of my DNA, my genetics, living and breathing, with my blood in it's veins.

I have donated my eggs twice. I do not know if my procedures were successful, but I do know that I gave a couple a chance to have a family. I don't ever think about the fact (besides now) that I could have a relation out there in the world but facts are it could be possible.

Do I ever feel like I made the wrong decision? No.  Do I ever worry that I may not be able to have children of my own? No.

The process was hard but very rewarding...  and I mean the $8000 for each donation round I made was definitely a perk. Not the easiest money I've made, and probably the most emotional, but I do recommend it to anyone who is willing and who is able.

It takes time though, from start to finish each cycle took 3-6 months. You go through a rigorous screening of family history, medical exams, and psychological ones. It then involves going to a lab on an almost daily basis to have blood drawn, have an ultrasound or both. You must also be able to give yourself multiple shots every night. The needles are not large, but two weeks of poking yourself can get rough.

It also takes a toll on your emotions. Besides the fact that you are dramatically increasing the size of multiple eggs which makes you feel very bloated those last few days, you are injecting multiple hormones into your system. My skin looked fantastic, my emotions were all over the place. I imagine it to be a dry-run of pregnancy.

I'm happy I did it, and I encourage you all to try it as well. Monetarily it is a nice way to help with some bills, as well as helping someone have the family they want.

I encourage you to do some research to see if there is a donation facility near you. Do not hesitate to ask them questions, inquire about how their procedure works, and understand the entire process before it starts. I personally went through Weill-Cornell in NYC. Everyone there was fantastic, helpful, and did their best to make me feel as comfortable as possible each and every day.

Let me know if you have any questions!
