oh hey Friday!

You kind of snuck up on me there.... Game night with my friends last night got a little crazy, as usual, and 6:15 is just not looking as great as it could.

Friday's Five

1) Going on a date tonight! woo- this will be the first of the game so I'm excited to report back..

2) Has anyone read The Selection book series? I finished the first one yesterday and am way too excited for that email from the library saying the 2nd is available


3) and speaking of book series, the 3rd Discovery of Witches book comes out in 4 days!! I'm not sure why but I totally had in my mind that it came out on the 5th of July and I was all ready to read it on the plane coming back from Florida- then womp womp, I was incorrect and it actually comes out on July 15th. So soon!

4) In my birchbox this month I got this product by Real Chemistry- a Luminous 3-Minute Peel. Kind of a mini-chemical peel. Well I tried it already and am so in love! My skin felt amazing afterwards and I could literally feel the dead skin flaky off- gross I know but beautiful at the same time. I still have enough left in my bottle for a few more tries but then I might actually buy the full-size package.

5) I'm becoming more and more impressed with this oil-pulling thing everyday. One - this morning, I was kind of hungover from my adventures last night, pulled for the 15 min and seriously felt a bajillion times better. woah nelly. Two- I had some cranky piece of I don't know what in my mouth earlier this week and decided to be a bit too aggressive in trying to remove it. This resulted in not so happy gums- pulled oil the next morning and boom gums were happy again. I took the week off in Florida but it feels kind of good to be doing it again. My teeth look cleaner, feel stronger and are starting to get a bit whiter. No health changes yet- my allergies are still in full force but we shall continue...

Confession Session

I confess: that in middle school 'NSync made appearances in my dreams nightly.. fo sho. Not always as themselves but sometimes just a poster, or perhaps as garden gnomes on my wonderland path (truth). I may or may not still be obsessed (may).

I confess: I'm not sure I'm where I want to be anymore. I love NYC but not as solid in beliefs that it's my place to be. Definitely will be a northern person but considering my options..

I confess: This job is forcing me to learn all sorts of life skills I thought I would never encounter. Besides learning how to decrypt and burn DVDs, I now know how to re-caulk a bathtub, start a charcoal grill, fix the toilet, dishwasher, and find a thousand missing toy pieces. #whatwhat #addthattoyourresume

I confess: The book, Orange is the New Black, kind of makes prison sound super fun. Not that I ever want to end up in prison, but it if I ended up where Piper did I could totally make it work.

I confess: I finally sucked it up and had someone clean my house for me and it was AMAZING! and totally worth it. It was soo nice to come home to a clean place, a made bed, and knowing that I didn't have to participate in any of it.ahhh the joys of life.

I Live in NYC so obviously I know Fashion

That's a joke. My fashion is comfy, casual and easy.

Who are some people that do know fashion? Stitch Fix. My second box arrived last week and already I can't wait for my third! Haven't heard of Stitch Fix yet? Why let me tell you...

Stitch Fix is this ah-mazing online personal stylist company. After filling an extensive profile about yourself, the clothing you prefer and your fashion style, a stylist picks 5 pieces to send you in your box- these are both accessories and clothes. They charge you a $20 styling fee about a week before, but it becomes a credit towards any piece of clothing or accessory that you decide to buy with your shipment. Anything you don't like you send back (for free!) and everything you do like you pay for. Also if you decide you love your whole box, you receive an additional 25% off! Sounds like the best thing ever, and that's because it is. Now I'm not as OMG about this box as I was with my first (check out my review, here!), all the pieces are super cute, but a few didn't look as great on me as I would have hoped.

 

First up is Pomelo Priya Ikat Knit-Back Tank for $54. I pulled this one out of the box and said cute! But once I put it on, I wasn't as impressed. It's a nice top and it looks okay but it is not really the tank top fit I normally wear and I know that it will just sit in my closet. Plus the price tag is a little steep. This one is going back.

Also shown here are the Kensie Jeans Kaleigh Ankle Biter Skinny Jean in Green for $88. I've been wishy-washy about colored jeans in the past but these ones I adore. Stitch Fix sent me a pair of Kensie jeans in my last box that I love and I have the exact same feeling about these ones. They are a great color, fit well, are super comfy and although I might not get too much use out of them in the next month or so- come September they will be a staple. Hope no one gets sick of me wearing green jeans! 

 

 Next up is the Ark N Co Violette Embroidered Detail Dress for $88. I so so so wanted to like this dress but it is just not me. I'm loving the embroidered details on it and the colors, but the shape and fit are not anything I could ever be comfortable wearing out. If it had been more fitted in my waist versus the shift style it is and a different sleeve I would have been all about it. Unfortunately it's a no... whomp whomp. 

My last two items are the Collective Concepts Esten Button-up Sleeveless Blouse for $54 and the Bay to Baubles Ginsberg Tiered Carved Crescent Pendant for $32. I am totally down with the shirt- it was cool, light and seems like a great piece that can be either dressed up or down. I could wear this with shorts and sandals on the weekend, pair it with jeans and heels to go out in or even add a pencil skirt and pumps for the office (not that I really go to an office, but if I did...)I like the cut and the style- it's a keeper!

The necklace is pretty and goes well with the top and I'm sure it would go well with some other pieces in my closet. I'm kind of up in the air about it though- I'm not a huge jewelry person, I'm not sure if I would really wear it that often. At the same time though I have been trying to buy more jewelry and  accessorize more, something about getting older (at least that's what I tell myself). I'm leaning towards getting it but want your opinion- should I send it back or keep it? Vote below... Besides the fact that I didn't love how two of the pieces fit- the colors, style, and prints were still right up my alley. Once again my stylist did a fantastic job of looking at the new things I had added to my pinterest board, my feedback from the first box, and my style profile and came up with a box that really fit who I am. I'm excited to give feedback from this box and see what else they come up with for me!

Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It's Off to Work We Go..

Yep- it's Monday and my week off has officially come to an end. Boo! I am actually excited to see the kids, because yes I did miss them- but I am also missing the relaxing vacation I was participating in down in Florida.

 After a wonderful time at Harry Potter World I drove over to the Tampa area to visit with my Dad's family. His parents, siblings, and all of my cousins are there. I spent some time hanging out with all of them which was super nice because most I hadn't seen in quite some time. Tuesday I mostly sat around at my Uncle's place with my little cousin (who is almost 5!) and my aunt. We played in the pool, enjoyed many Angry Orchard ciders and just relaxed! That's what vacation is for!!

On Wednesday we got up early and took my Uncle's boat out to do some fishing. But in their typical fashion we got out later than we wanted too, became distracted by some abandoned crab traps and didn't get as much fishing in as we could have. I caught lots of bait fish but didn't really have time to catch anything better. Next time, next time.

I headed back to Orlando that afternoon to pick up my friend from work and then I went on my first blate! I was super excited to have the opportunity to meet both Kate from Green Fashionista and Emily from Martinis and Bikinis. They both work in my old neighborhood so we met up at a great little wine bar called, The Wine Room, and chatted for awhile. It was my first time meeting other bloggers face to face and it was super fun! Can't wait to meet some more of you in the future...

Thursday was super chill- I went and had breakfast with my dad, shopped around at the mall with my friend and got pedicures. Thursday night I just relaxed and watched a movie.

 As Friday was the fourth (Happy 'Merica Day! ) my friend, her fiance and myself headed to a pool party my brother-in-laws family was hosting. We enjoyed the sun, the food, the drinks and the company (my super adorable nephew included!) Friday night we headed back to their place and watched Disney, Universals and some nearby lake parties fireworks on the balcony. Beautiful as always.

Then on Saturday I did something I have never done before. Before I get into this adventure I want to let you all know that I have family members that work for Disney and I always get tickets from them. We had always planned to go to Disney on Saturday but until Friday evening I was under the assumption that the ticket I possessed was blacked-out from the Magic Kingdom, meaning I could go to the other 3 parks but would be unable to see the new fantasyland and try the new snow white ride. News flash when all of a sudden I am told Friday evening that I am actually able to go to Magic Kingdom. This changed our entire plans.

So we woke up super early (my friend L, her fiance and myself) and decided that we were going to get to Magic Kingdom before it opened and be one of the first people into the park. I have literally in my entire life never done this before. We watched the opening ceremony, and walked through the entire park (with a large crowd behind us) without anyone in front of us. The place was empty! After the mad dash to the new Snow White ride, The Mine Train, we were one of the first 20 people on it for the day. By the time we got off the ride, which was super cute but very short, the wait for the ride was already at 60 minutes!! Crazy- I know. After that we walked on to almost every other ride we wanted to do, Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear. All favorites of mine.

We wandered over to MGM (or Hollywood Studios these days) played the new Toy Story Mania and then just kind of hung out. We ate lunch (or funch - fun lunch) at the 50's Primetime Cafe, attempted to watch the Indiana Jones show before it got rained out and bought some cute stuffed Olaf's for my munchkins.

After that I went to the airport and flew back to good ole' NYC. Sadie and Phoenix were ridiculously excited to see me- which mostly means they harassed me all night and Sunday.

Phew- it was a great trip, but I'm happy to be home, not so happy to be working... Hope everyone had a great fourth!!
