Apple Picking Adventure!

Hooray! I crossed another item off of my Fall bucket list- I'm way too impressed with myself and the progress I have made with this list this year. Woah.

I dragged a few friends out to Pennings Farm Orchard in Warwick, NY. It took about an hour + to drive there, a nice scenic route through the hills and mountains with lots of gorgeous fall leaves. We also listened to the new T-Swift album that a friend bootlegged. I give it absolute approval- T-Swift you've done it again!

The orchard was nice, they only had two varieties of apples left but we maneuvered our way through and found some delicious picks to snack on.

After filling our bag of apples we went to the beer garden of the orchard that had some amazing house made hard apple cider, beer, and a bunch of other things. It had a great playground for kids, some chickens, goats and a sweet baby cow to pet and a great food area.

We ordered food, drinks, grabbed some sweets and goodies from the market area and then grabbed tasty doughnuts and fresh apple cider for the ride home.

Next year we now know to go earlier for a better apple variety but overall it was a lot of fun and I'm glad we made an adventure of it!

My Fall Bucket List (update)

Well.. I already posted my Fall Bucket List a few weeks ago but it is also the Day 5 prompt for Blogtober14. So for now I will just give an update on my previous list..

My Fall Bucket List for 2014:
1) Try a PSL again- okay so I haven't actually retried the PSL yet.. but I did try a chai latte with pumpkin spice syrup and it was AMAZING! It is now a fall favorite..

2) Go Apple Picking!- again, hasn't actually happened yet- but it is in the works! My friends for down for it, we have picked a weekend to go and are just narrowing down the millions of orchards. Woo-hoo!

3) Make a pumpkin pie from scratch.- haven't even attempted to get this far yet- although it may be my contribution for Thanksgiving dinner!

4) Have a wine tasting party. - friends are also down for this one, but we are thinking a weekend in November will be best. Will update when we do it!

5) Watch Hocus Pocus- WINNER! This one I have actually completed- thanks to the Lifetime network! so perfect, in every way..

6) Find two pairs of great Fall boots. -Checkity check- what what? and it's only been like a week.I found a black pair earlier this week from Geox.

so progress has been made... perhaps I will actually complete my list this year!

My Dream Job + Michael Kors Watch Giveaway!

Helene in Between
#Blogtober14 going strong!

Day 2:  Dream job when you were little/ what is it now?

I talked yesterday about if I won the lottery I would totally pursue my dream job- that is being a casting agent.

When I was younger I had several dream jobs, for a while I wanted to be a director of movies, then I wanted to be a scientist (vague, I know) and I heavily considered becoming a winemaker in high school. I even looked into going to colleges in California and getting a degree in it. Then junior year I decided I wanted to be a director again. I knew I didn't want to go to an art specific school so I did a google search for universities and college with film programs and Hollins (my alma mater) was on the list. I decided to go to the school but didn't even start in their film program because I disliked one of the professors. I ended up majoring in Business and Communications, it seemed to be a safe choice and an idea of a dream job kind of fell out the door.

I've always been a huge fan of entertainment though and would absolutely love to work in the industry. When I first moved to NYC I applied to a lot of talent agencies to become an agent but honestly that area is way to cut-throat for me- I would have either ended up stabbing someone, crying everyday, or both.

But casting a part is something that I think/know I would enjoy. I love watching young actors grow, change, adapt, and the parts they can successfully play. And I can't even try and count how many men, women and children I've seen on a commercial and knew were going places. I'm not quite sure how I would label that talent but perhaps one day entertainment is where I will be.

And if you have any more interest in learning about casting and what a casting agent does- you should watch this super cool documentary called Casting By. It is an incredible look at the first real casting agents- those who cast by talent, and the part, versus looks/type casting (meaning once a doctor, always a doctor). Also about how the whole industry is a bit wonky, casting directors get very little recognition of their work and should totally be getting Oscars. Anyways- watch it, it is very good!!

And now to the fun stuff- a giveaway! I teamed up with Simple Clarke and a bunch of other awesome bloggers to give away a Michael Kors watch.. enter below and good luck!

Happy Blogtober!

I'm excited to announce I am going to participate in Helene in Between's and The Daily Tay's Blogtober 2014 challenge to blog everyday for the month of October.

I've seen a few in the past but wasn't sure even where to get started with them but when Helen and Tay announced this one last month I knew this was a great place to start. So here we go-

Day 1!

If you won the lottery you'd be...ridiculously excited!

Not sure why, and I'm hoping my family isn't the only one out there- but we kind of discuss this topic often. Along with the fact that you can't win if you don't play- which happens to be my problem. I always say I'm going to get a ticket...

But if I actually won- it would be amazing. In my intricate dreams for if that beautiful day came, first things first would be to receive the lump sum. Then take that money and flee- haha just kidding, but no really.

Actually I would probably take it to a family friend of ours who works in finance. Pay off those dreaded student loans, for myself and all my family members. Then set up some sort of trust of my family too. After that it would be dream houses, apartments and a very very long five-star vacation with all of my favorite people.

Mostly likely I would then try and actually pursue a career in my dream industry with my dream job (read all about it tomorrow!) It wouldn't matter that I would have to start as an intern or mail room. I would just be able to enjoy the career I wanted without worrying about the finances.

Now, I should probably go out and buy that ticket!!
